નાયગ્રાફોલ બ્રુકલીન થી 413 માઈલ દૂર અને રોડમાર્ગે લગભગ સાત કલાકના અંતરે આવેલો છે .. ઘટાદાર લીલાછમ વૃક્ષો ,પર્વતો કાપીને બનાવેલા સ્વચ્છ અને પહોળા માર્ગો પૂરપાટ વેગે દોડતી કારો વગેરે આ પ્રવાસને વધુ આહલાદક બનાવે છે.. આ ધોધ યુનાઇટેડ સ્ટેટ્સ ઓફ અમેરિકા અને કેનેડા વચ્ચે આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સીમા પર સ્થિત છે, કહેવાય છે કે નાયગ્રા શબ્દની ઉત્પત્તિ કોઈ ભારતીય શબ્દ પરથી થયેલ છે.. આ વિસ્તારનું દસ્તાવેજીકરણ કરનાર પ્રથમ યુરોપિયન ફ્રેન્ચ ધર્મગુરુ ફાધર લુઈસ હેનેપિન હતા, 1678 ના તેમના પ્રવાસ દરમિયાન તે નાયગ્રા ધોધ ના કદ અને મહત્વ થી અભિભૂત થઇ ગયા હતા..નાયગ્રા ધોધની મુલાકાત લેવાનો શ્રેષ્ઠ સમય જૂનથી ઓગસ્ટ છે…વિશ્વના આ પ્રસિદ્ધ પ્રવાસન સ્થળ ને જોવા દુનિયાભરના લોકો ઉમટી પડે છે પણ ભારતીય અને ખાસ કરીને ગુજરાતીઓ ની તાદાદ અથવા બહુતાયત સ્પષ્ટ પણે નજર પડે છે. ઊંચાઈએથી પડતી વિશાળ અફાટ જળરાશિ મંત્રમુગ્ધ કરે છે, આટલા વિશાળ જથ્થામાં વર્ષોથી કાચ જેવું સ્વચ્છ પાણી ક્યાંથી આવતું હશે અને ક્યાં જતું હશે એ કલ્પના માત્રથી ઈશ્વરની અનુભૂતિ થયા વગર રહેતી નથી.. આ પાણીને સ્પર્શ કરવાનો રોમાંચ પ્રાપ્ત કરવાનો આનંદ અનેરો હતો.. ધોધમાંથી નીકળતાં ઝાકળ અને પવનો આ વિસ્તારને ઠંડકનો અનુભવ કરાવે છે. જોકે નાયગ્રા ધોધ એ વિશ્વનો સૌથી ઊંચો ધોધ નથી ,પણ પાણી પડવાની દ્રષ્ટિએ નાયગ્રા ફોલ એ બધા ધોધ થી જુદો પડે છે, નાયગ્રા ધોધ ને વધુ પ્રભાવશાળી અને આકર્ષક બનાવે છે. તે તેની ઉપરથી વહેતા પાણીનું પ્રમાણ છે … નાયગ્રા ધોધ ઉપર દર સેકન્ડે 3160 Tons પાણી વહે છે.. આશ્ચર્યની વાત તો એ છે કે આટલા વિશાળ જથ્થામાં ખૂબ ઊંચેથી પડતા એ ધોધનો પ્રચંડ અવાજ સહેજ પણ કકઁશ નથી લાગતો .. એવું લાગે છે કે હજારો સંગીતકારો કોઈ સંગીતની સૂરાવલિઓ છેડી રહ્યા હોય..

કેનેડિયન બાજુ એ છે જ્યાં તમને અમેરિકન ધોધ અને શક્તિશાળી હોર્સશુ ધોધ બંનેનો ભવ્ય પેનોરમા મળે છે. તે ચોક્કસપણે નાયગ્રા ધોધની વધુ મોહક બાજુ છે. તમે અમેરિકન અને બ્રાઇડલ વેઇલ ધોધ સુધી પહોંચી શકતા નથી,પણ તમે હોર્સ શૂ ધોધની ધાર સુધી પહોંચી શકો છો.સાંજે તીવ્ર સ્પોટલાઇટ્સના વિવિધ રંગોના કારણે ધોધ જાણે વિવિધ રંગોમા સ્નાન કરતુ હોય તેમ પ્રતીતિ થાય છે . અમેરિકા અને કેનેડાને જોડતા ઐતિહાસિક બ્રિજ પર ચાલતા જાણે હું પણ ઇતિહાસનો એક ભાગ બની ગયો તેવી પ્રતિતિ થઇ..નાયગ્રા ધોધ, નાયગરા નદીના કાંઠે ઉદ્યાનો, સ્થળો અને આકર્ષણોનો સંગ્રહ છે. “ફોલ્સ ટુ ફોર્ટ” પ્રદેશ, વિવિધ હેરિટેજ પર્યટન પ્રવૃત્તિઓ, રેસ્ટોરન્ટ્સ, ડાઉનટાઉન પર્યટન વિસ્તાર અને બોટિંગ, માછીમારી અને હાઇકિંગ સહિત વિવિધ આઉટડોર પ્રવૃત્તિઓ થાય છે…. રોબર્ટ મોસેસ નાયગ્રા પાવર પ્લાન્ટ અને લેવિસ્ટન પંપ જનરેટિંગ પ્લાન્ટ, સંયુક્ત 25 ટર્બાઇન સાથે 2.6 મિલિયન કિલોવોટ .ઊર્જા ઉત્પન્ન કરે છે…હાઇડ્રોઇલેક્ટ્રિક પાવરના ઉત્પ્રેરક તરીકે નાયગ્રા નિર્ણાયક મહત્વ ધરાવે છે. અમેરિકામાં ભાવિ પેઢીને પ્રેરણા પ્રાપ્ત થાય તે માટે વિવિધ ક્ષેત્રોમાં યોગદાન આપનાર તથા દેશના વિકાસમાં ફાળો આપનાર મહાનુભાવની પ્રતિમાનું સ્થાપન કરવામાં આવે છે.. તે જ રીતે નાયગ્રા ધોધ સ્ટેટ પાર્કમાં પ્રથમ હાઇડ્રો-ઇલેક્ટ્રિક પાવર પ્લાન્ટની રચના કરનાર નિકોલા ટેસ્લાની ખૂબ ઊંચા કદની પ્રતિમાનું સ્થાપન કરવામાં આવ્યું છે ..વિશ્વના તાજા પાણીના 20% નું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ કરતા, નાયગ્રાનું મહત્વ “સમગ્ર ખંડ માટે ચાવીરૂપ” છે.આ શહેર નાયગ્રા ધોધ સ્ટેટ પાર્કનું ઘર છે . આ પાર્કમાં અનેક આકર્ષણો છે, જેમાં બ્રાઇડલ વેઇલ ફs લ્સ પાછળ પવનની ગુફા , મેઇડ ઓફ ધ મિસ્ટ , રેઈન્બો બ્રિજના તળે ચાલતી લોકપ્રિય બોટ ટૂર , પ્રોસ્પેક્ટ પોઈન્ટ અને તેના નિરીક્ષણ ટાવર , નાયગ્રા ડિસ્કવરી સેન્ટર, નાયગ્રા ધોધ ભૂગર્ભ રેલરોડ હેરિટેજ સેન્ટર , અને નાયગ્રાનું એક્વેરિયમ . નાયગ્રા કેસિનો એન્ડ હોટેલ અને પાઇન એવન્યુનો સમાવેશ થાય છે..નાયગ્રા ધોધ સ્ટેટ પાર્ક અમેરિકાનો સૌથી જૂનો “સ્ટેટ પાર્ક” છે, જેની સ્થાપના 1885 માં નાયગ્રા રિઝર્વેશન તરીકે કરવામાં આવી હતી.નાયગ્રા ધોધ સ્ટેટ પાર્કની રચના” ફ્રેડરિક લો ઓલમસ્ટેડ “દ્વારા કરવામાં આવી હતી; તેમણે ન્યુ યોર્ક સિટીના પ્રખ્યાત “સેન્ટ્રલ પાર્ક”ની ડિઝાઇન પણ કરી હતી.. ” ધ મેઇડ ઓફ ધ મિસ્ટ” એ ન્યુ યોર્કના નાયગ્રા ધોધની યુએસ બાજુની બોટ ટૂર છે. આ પ્રવાસ લગભગ ૨૦ મીનીટનો હોય છે આ બોટ મુસાફરોને છે ધોધની નજીક લઈ જાય છે ધોધમાંથી ઉછળતા પાણીથી લોકો તન અને મનથી ભીંજાય જાય છે છે આ સવારી વગર નાયગ્રા ધોધ ની સફર પૂર્ણ થતી નથી..બોટ નાયગ્રા રિઝર્વેશન સ્ટેટ પાર્કથી રેઈન્બો બ્રિજ પાસેના પ્રોસ્પેક્ટ પોઈન્ટ પર પ્રસ્થાન કરે છે, અને તેના મુસાફરોને અમેરિકન અને બ્રાઈડલ વીલ ધોધની પાછળ લઈ જાય છે, પછી” હોર્સશૂ ધોધ “(કેનેડિયન ધોધ) ના વળાંકની અંદર જાય છે.

નાયગ્રા ધોધ અવિશ્વસનીય છે ..વિશ્વની સૌથી સુંદર કુદરતી અજાયબી છે.. સર્જકની શક્તિ ની ભવ્યતા નિહાળતા હૃદય અને મન પુલકિત થઈ ગયું, જીવનભર નાયગરા ધોધની પ્રથમ મુલાકાત સ્મરણસંદૂકમાં સચવાયેલી રહેશે તે ચોક્કસ છે
